Intake Hi Rise TARA

The current committee and membership have been established since March 2001. after a faultering start by a previous committee. We saw there was a need for local actionb and establishment of a direct link with the local authorities. the problems of tenants in High-rise flats are compounded by the nature of many people living together, with varying social needs. We wanted to start fostering a better feeling in the flats about their neighbours and try to get conditions, in and around the flats, updated.

We meet on the last Wednesday of each month, in our new TARA Office, located on the ground floor of Lonsdale House, at 6pm till 7pm.

At the moment our meetings are stickly business, but we are applying for a Lottery Licence to start getting funds for social events, (We have a close link with the Neighbourhood Watch stuated in Westminster House, who at present are our social links) Tea / Coffee and biscuits are available at all meetings.

Our goals for the comming year, are to apply for funding for computer facilities, in order to help our organisation. But ultimately to provide the Residents and Tenats with access to the net and assist in providing the required training, free. We have had many ideas put forward by members for action to make this area better, and a major project will be the anti-social behaviour problems in the area, and its eradication.
