North Area - Associations

Redmond Community TARA

****Congratulations to the TARA who have just obtained £2000 from ABC funding to provide diversionary activities during the school holidays. ***

Redmond TARA is for all local Residents whether they be tenants of St Leger Homes, tenants of private landlords or independent homeowners. As a group we invite all sorts of public bodies to come and speak to us to explain what they do and how they serve the public. Recent examples of some very interesting - and eye-opening - talks have been the VIP's (Visually Impaired People), the Probation Service and the Council's "odd job" service.

We also have regular attendance by the Police and Community Support Officers, the Safe Neighbourhood Team, St Leger Homes and DMBC. Our elected councillors also pop in occasionally. So there is always someone with whom we can air any grievances, problems or local issues (like litter, road drains, the local ambience, anti social behaviour, home security, help for the disabled and elderly - in fact just about anything that concerns us in our everyday lives.

The committe is: -

  • Sue Wray - Chairman and Secretary
  • Tim Bartlett - Deputy Chairman
  • Sid Vaughan - Treasurer
  • Val Stuart
  • Anne Morley
  • Sylvia Bartlett
  • Contact Sue on 01302 338396

We would like to extend the association to families and younger people - but currently have no-one of these age groups attending. Perhaps they feel the association cannot offer them anything - or meets at inconvenient times - or some other reason? Please don't hesitate to contact us to find out more, register your ideas or tell us what you would like! We put a leaflet through every door in the TARA area before each meeting (7 p.m. at the Redmond Centre on the last Thursday each month) which tells you what (if) special topic has been arranged.

We also put on special events like coffee mornings, pie and peas dinners, arrange for a skip at the Redmond Centre for you to dispose of awkward rubbish etc. Who knows, if we had enough new members, we could start putting on outings etc? Who's up for that?

There is a 7-11 year club, on Wednesday & Friday evenings in Edward Rd Community Centre Carcroft every one welcome. They have a wii fit, table top football, film shows.
