What do Associations / tenants clubs do?
-
Associations / tenants
clubs are organisations set up by and made up of St Leger Homes of Doncaster tenants and
other groups of people who live on St Leger Homes of Doncaster estates, e.g. those who
have bought their homes under 'the right to buy'.
- A Tenants' or
Tenants' & Residents' Association provides one of the best ways
for tenants and others living on Council estates to have their voices
heard.
- Tenants have
found from experience that many voices raised together are more effective
than one person going it alone.
- By getting together
with other tenants or tenants and residents to form an association
you achieve a stronger platform from which to put your points of view
over to the St. Leger Homes or other agencies. People working together towards
a common goal by consulting with St. Leger Homes officers, elected members
and all interested parties. This makes sure that all of us are aware
of each others problems and can see the difficulties from all sides.
- Everyone worked
towards Best Value and by April 2000 Tenants
Compacts were up and running and now has a 2003 version. These
are Government directives to ensure all tenants are consulted and
have a say in the way their Local Authority is run.
